The Desert Denizens series features animals from hot climates, chilling out and relaxing: armadillos gardening and sun bathing, a llama digging into a good book with some fresh tunes on his AM/FM, alpaca lovers hitting the hardtop on their motorcycle and sidecar, and one studly ass cruising on his bike.
Since I loved making the backgrounds for the Wild Whimsy series so much, I decided to make more! The original artwork for these pieces has the same floral/mandala pattern in the background, buried under layers of color washes (blue and purple here) for a subtle but lively background.
When I make my prints, though, I photoshop out the blue and purple patterns and create a similar looking background that I use behind all of the subjects (armadillos, llama, alpacas, donkey). This way, when you order prints, you area getting prints and postcards that match well and don’t have any unwanted variations in the background. (I started this with the white background on Wild Whimsy prints, since some of the white backgrounds were over blue base layers and some were over brown base layers and the difference was noticeable in the reprints.)
